Happy Holidays 2012

Happy Holidays Everyone

We started this year off like every other year. I was working at Shield Healthcare and Peter was working at Budweiser. I was getting a lot of migraines – at least one a week.

We took a couple of mini vacations this year. The first one was in January. We went to Arizona again for the Barrett-Jackson Auction (just to look). It was just a long weekend. We drove the Kia there. I love road trips.

In April, my migraines got so bad that I was only working half days. Our (my) workload had tripled. The company hired a new person to help me, and she, my other co-worker and I should have been able to get the work done. But, my two co-workers didn’t do any work. They sat on FaceBook all day or whatever they could do to not work!

That’s when I left the company after almost 8 years there. I am now doing Scentsy full time. And guess what? No more migraines! Not only do I feel better, I’m much happier!

Scentsy has expanded into three lines of products - the fragrance line (warmers and wax), purses and accessories and fondue warmers and chocolate. I have joined all three.

April was the start of the car show season. Peter entered several car shows this year - Huntington Beach, Palm Springs, San Marino, Ventura and Costa Mesa to mention a few. Of course, he got lots of trophies and awards.

Strange, Peter has kept both of his cars this year. No new cars!

In May, we had a car show at a mansion in Beverly Hills. We didn’t get to do it, because the night before, Peter had to rush me to the ER. I thought I was having a heart attack. I had chest pains that were so strong I couldn’t breathe. Turns out, it was my stomach. Since I had my gaul bladder taken out last year, I now have to take Pepcid every day or it comes back. That was scarry!

Now that I have more time, I worked the polls for the primary and presidential elections this year. It was an experience. Long days – 6am to 10pm.

In July, I got my clearance to do childcare again. I work for other childcare providers as an assistant or substitute when they need time off. I love working with little kids.

July was also Peter & my 10th anniversary.

The end of July, Katrina and I went to Las Vegas for the Scentsy convention. (Another road trip!) It was really fun to travel with her.

We took another road trip in August. Peter and I went to Monterey & Carmel for a huge week of classic cars. The main show is the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. But there are lots of other car shows going on all week. There are classic cars all over the area. We didn’t take Peter’s car to show, we just took the Kia, to look at everything. But we did take Maggie. It’s a very dog friendly area, so Maggie fit right in. She was a very good girl on the trip, and I think she had fun. It was a really great trip.

September was our real vacation. We flew to New York and spent a couple of days there. Went to the 9/11 Memorial. Then we got on a ship and cruised to Halifax, St. John, Bar Harbor, Boston and Newport, RI. It was fun. We went on Princess for the first time. Not too much difference in cruise lines, but after the bad one we had on Carnival last year, we decided to try Princess.

In October, Peter replied to an ad for a job at LAX. It’s the same kind of work he does now only at the airport. He took the test and had the interview. Now we are just waiting to hear from them. He says he probably won’t take it. But it depends on things he doesn’t know yet (schedule, vacation, etc.) We’ll see.

At Halloween, Katrina and I went out to some local haunted houses. Lots of people do their houses up for the holiday. Our favorite was the house owned by the producer of The Simpsons. They call it Boney Island. They have over 1000 animated skeletons in their yard and around their home. It was lots of fun.

Katrina is doing well. Still living in Canyon Country.

Kenny and Jordan are still living in Palm Springs. She has been traveling the country (Hawaii, Texas, St. Louis and more) for her modeling work.

We hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and an abundant new year.
